Welcome to Goldington Children's Centre
Our Children's Centre provides services and activities for children from 0 to 5 years of age. We bring together local services to provide better learning and life development opportunities for children and their families. This includes care and education for young children, health services, family support, and a support network for childminders. We welcome all families respecting the diversity of the community, whether you are a parent-to-be, a mum, a dad, grandparent or carer. Confidentiality will be respected.
The Children's Centre services are based on the five Every Child Matters outcomes:
Be Healthy,
Stay Safe,
Achieve and Enjoy,
Make a Positive Contribution, and
Achieve Economic Wellbeing.
These services are delivered by a wide partnership of agencies working with or alongside the Family Work and Nursery Teams to provide a comprehensive range of services.
The Centre specialises in Domestic Abuse support through our Liberty programme. Further information can be found

OFSTED visited Goldington Children's Centre in October 2010. We were the first in Bedford! We received an overall Good outcome with all areas judged outstanding or good. The Inspectors commented:
"Goldington Children's Centre is a good centre. The families that live in the centre's target area are well served by the centre........ One of the centre's strengths is the excellent care, guidance and support that is given to all."
and
"Good early years provision and excellent links with the on-site nursery prepare children very well for their nursery education........ Staff are offered a good selection of training and users are invited to train to become volunteers. These are very effective in making individuals, both staff and users, feel valued members of the community in which they work or live."
It was very affirming that the areas which make the most difference to families and match our ethos were the ones that received Outstanding:
- the quality of care, guidance and support offered to users within the centre and the wider community
- the extent to which children are safe and protected, their welfare concerns are identified and appropriate steps taken to address them
- the effectiveness of the centre's policy, procedures and work with key agencies in safeguarding children and, where applicable, vulnerable adults
- the extent to which all users enjoy and achieve educationally and in their personal and social development
- the effectiveness of the assessment of the needs of children, parents and other users
- the extent to which ambitious targets drive improvements, provision is integrated and there are high expectations for users and the wider community
